“Olongapo City has posted a significant increase in Real Property Tax Collection for two consecutive years,” according to City Assessor Oscar Agustin.

In a report submitted to Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr. by City Treasurer Marcelino Andawi, efficiency on real property taxes actual collection have reached a record high P70,596,653.93 for 2008.

In 2007, the city was able to collect P64,464,443.89 in real property taxes.

Gordon lauded the performance of the City Assessor’s Office and the City Treasurer's Office for an effective tax collection system that gave the city a boost of 11% in 2007 and a steady increase of 9% in 2008.

“This means that the city assessor and treasurer have successfully done their jobs,” the Mayor said.

Gordon added that the additional revenue will help the city realize its development projects and programs this year.

“The increased collection must be converted to additional services for Olongapeños,” Gordon stressed.

PAO/melai
