OPERATION TULI ON SUMMER BREAK

The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation has switched to high gear in preparation for “Operation Tuli” in the city's seventeen (17) barangays.

“Operation Tuli” is held annually by SK in cooperation with the City Population Office (POPCOM) in line with the HELPS program of Mayor James “Bong” Gordon, Jr.

According to  Olongapo City SK Federation Chair Dolly Mae M. Ramos , the project aims to unburden parents of the cost of having adolescent boys undergo circumcision.

“Malaking tulong ito mula sa pamahalaang lungsod para sa mga magulang at sa mga anak nilang nagbibinata,” said Ramos.

The SK and POPCOM will be assisted by the medical staff of the City Health Office (CHO) in implementing the project in each barangay.

The “Operation Tuli” schedule is as follows:

SK GRAND REUNION

Thumbs up! Mayor James “Bong” Gordon Jr. with Olongapo First Lady and Zambales Vice-Governor Anne Marie Gordon, now running for the Zambales First District Congressional Seat, joined the youth leaders at the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Grand Reunion held recently at the Olongapo City Convention Center. Also present in the event were City Councilors Ellen Dabu, Jonathan Manalo, Rodel Cerezo and city consultants Romy Guerrero, Bugsy delos Reyes, former SK Tet Marzan and Eduardo Piano.

BAND AND DANCE FEST FOR THE YOUTH!

The SK Federation of Olongapo City is packed with programs for the youth on the first quarter of 2010, starting off with a dance competition “Hataw Sayaw” on February 27, 2010, Saturday, at the Rizal Triangle Covered Court at 6:00 pm.

According to SK Federation Pres. Cheene Hoya, winners will receive P5,000.00 for first place, P3,000.00 for second place and P2,000.00 for the third placer.

There will also be a band competition on March 20, 2010, also a Saturday, again at the Rizal triangle Covered Court at 6:00 pm. “For the band competition, winners will receive P7,000.00 for the first place, P5,000.00 for second place and P3,000.00 for the third place. Special prizes will also be given away for the Best Drummer, Best Vocalist, Best Bassist and Best Guitarist,” Hoya added.

These programs of the SK are designed to enhance the social, political, cultural and physical development of the youth, encouraging them to take part in fun activities that does not involve computer games, watching television or drinking alcoholic beverages, common pastime of today’s generation.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AT CHILD-FRIENDLY SYSTEM SA ‘GAPO, DINAYO

Sinalubong nina Olongapo City Administrator Ferdie Magrata, Sangguniang Kabataan Chairmen Chrissy Angeles ng Sta. Rita at Isagani dela Cruz ng Gordon Heights ang Lakbay-Aral delegation ng mga opisyales ng Sanggunian Kabataan sa pangunguna ni SK Chairman Jeralyn Piu na nagmula pa sa Sta. Rita, Samar kamakailan lamang.

Layon ng lakbay-aral na makakuha ng mga ‘’insights’’ patungkol sa mga programa ng Pamahalaang Lokal at Sangguniang Kabataan ng Lungsod ng Olongapo sa superbisyon at pag-alalay pa rin ni Mayor Bong Gordon hinggil sa pagbibigay atensyon at karapatan sa mga kabataan at mga bata na makilahok sa mga kaganapan sa lipunan.

Matatandaan na isa sa mga prioridad ni Mayor Gordon ay ang linangin ang mga kabataan at mga bata ng lungsod at ilayo sa anumang masamang bisyo na tiyak makasisira sa kanilang magandang kinabukasan. Katunayan nito ay ang nakailang ulit na isinasagawa nang mga ‘’sports tournaments’’ tulad ng ‘’basketball’’ at ‘’boxing’’ na nilahukan ng mga kabataan ng iba’t-ibang barangay sa lungsod at pinangasiwaan ng mga opisyales ng Sangguniang Kabataan.

‘’The youth and children are the hope of our country. We should train them from their early age to become a disciplined person in the future,’’ wika ni Mayor Gordon.

SK AT BRGY. ELECTIONS SYNCHRONIZED REGISTRATION

Nanawagan si City Mayor James ‘’Bong’’ Gordon, Jr. sa lahat ng mga opisyales at kawani ng Pamahalaang Lokal ng Olongapo na maki-isa sa pagpapakalat ng impormasyon kaugnay sa ‘’Synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Registration.’’

Ang panawagan ni Mayor Bong Gordon nitong ika-16 ng Hulyo 2007 sa Flag Raising Ceremony sa Rizal Triangle Multi-Purpose Center ay isang araw matapos buksan ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ang pintuan sa mga aplikante para sa nalalapit na halalang Pam-barangay at Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) sa ika-29 ng Oktubre 2007.

Ang week-long registration, ika-15 hanggang ika-22 ng Hulyo 2007 sa tanggapan ng COMELEC-Olongapo na matatagpuan sa Right Wing ng City Hall ay dinadagsa na ng mga Barangay at SK applicants simula ika-8 ng umaga hanggang ika-7 ng gabi.

Ang Barangay Registration ay para sa mga nasa edad labing-walong (18) taong gulang pataas samantalang ang Sangguniang Kabataan

Registration ay para sa mga nasa edad pagitan ng labing-lima (15) hanggang labing-pitong (17) taong gulang hanggang o bago sumapit ang ika-29 ng Oktubre. Kinakailangan rin na ang aplikante ay aktuwal na residente ng barangay mahigit-kumulang sa anim (6) na buwan sa takdang-araw ng halalan.

Bilang katibayan, ang Barangay at SK applicants ay kinakailangang magpri-sinta rin ng alin man sa kanyang certificate of live birth, baptismal certificate, school records o anumang talaan na magpapakita ng kanyang pagkakakilanlan.

Partikular na inatasan ni Mayor Gordon ang mga opisyales na magsagawa ng pag-iikot sa kanilang nasasakupan upang higit na hikayatin ang mga residente ng barangay na samantalahin ang registration para sa ‘’Synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election.’’
